Town Poem

Although our town may be small
You may never meet someone mean at all
Every person has a place
For every social class, religion, and race
Everyone is greeted with a smiling face
And year after year, we are still great
The depression blows in swift winds through the town
Leaving many children’s faces with a frown
Parents do not have enough to feed their children
Or even send them to kindergarden
Men and women are forced to take any job so the bills can be paid
The jobs range from, factory worker, store owner, to maid
The town holds a secret that only true natives know
It happened after a long winter’s snow
The old farm house on the edge of town
Was burned right down to the ground
No one could find who did it
but now no one goes near it
Kids have come running yelling to their moms
I saw a face, smiling out the window, it laughed and then it winked at tom
The winters brings cold weather and a fresh blanket of snow
The summer has that special golden glow
The spring brings green fields that go on for miles
The autumn coats each leaf with red, orange, and yellow, leaving nothing but smiles
The town of Avalon may be unimportant to you
but Avalon is the best town through and through
